Client Brief
Alongside our larger habitat restoration and planting projects, we support a small number of parish councils in Cornwall with regular land management and public access maintenance.
This work is not about high-volume commercial grounds maintenance. It is more practical than that. Parish councils often need a contractor who can cut paths, keep public spaces usable, respond to seasonal growth, and deal with small problems before they become bigger ones.
Our role is to help keep footpaths, open spaces and access routes safe, tidy and usable through the main growing season.
THRC Solution
Regular Seasonal Maintenance
During the summer months, we cut and strim public footpaths, parish-owned spaces and access routes.
This includes managing vegetation along paths, keeping entrances open, strimming around signs and furniture, and making sure routes remain accessible for local residents and visitors.
Where needed, we also carry out light crown lifting and vegetation clearance to improve access, sightlines and safety.
Responsive Small Works
One of the reasons parish councils use us is that we can respond to more than just grass and vegetation.
We are often asked to deal with small but important jobs at short notice: repairing a gate, fixing a section of fence, clearing fallen branches, cutting back overgrowth, or responding after bad weather.
These are not always large pieces of work, but they matter to the people using the space. A broken gate, blocked path or fallen limb can quickly become a complaint or safety concern if it is not dealt with.
Working in Public Spaces
Because the work takes place in public areas, it has to be carried out safely and with consideration.
We are used to working around walkers, dogs, residents, roads, footpaths and public access routes. That means clear communication, tidy working, sensible timing and leaving sites safe at the end of each visit.
For THRC, this work sits naturally alongside our wider land management services. It keeps us connected to local communities and gives parish councils access to a contractor who can handle both routine maintenance and more practical countryside tasks.
The Value of Ongoing Support
Good public space maintenance is rarely about one big job.
It is about regular attention, quick responses and knowing the sites well enough to spot issues early. Over time, that makes paths easier to manage, public spaces safer to use, and parish councils less exposed to complaints and last-minute problems.
For us, this service shows the reliable, responsive side of THRC: practical land management, delivered properly, for local public spaces.
